Los Angeles Business Journal has quoted Akin Gump entertainment counsel Vanessa Roman in the story “WndrCo Investments Range Wide.” The article looks at some of the diverse investments made by Jeffrey Katzenberg’s new venture capital firm.

The biggest investment WndrCo has made, reports the Business Journal, was $295 million put into AnchorFree, a Silicon Valley-based company that created the app Hotspot Shield, which protects a user’s identity while accessing Internet content.

Roman said the AnchorFree financing could “tie in perfectly,” as a sponsor or partner with Quibi, a short-form video platform devised by Katzenberg. She said it would appeal to smartphone consumers who are concerned about being hacked while watching videos.
