Vanessa Roman Selected As One of Variety’s 2016 New Leaders

(Los Angeles) – Vanessa Roman, an associate in Akin Gump’s entertainment practice, has been selected as one of Variety magazine’s 2016 New Leaders in the area of law. The list profiles individuals 40 and under considered by the publication to be “the most prominent up-and-comers to watch out for in Hollywood.”
In her profile, Roman said she is not “the kind of lawyer you’ve ever seen on a television or in the movies.” Instead, she described her practice as representing those “with the money giving it to those with the ideas to take it and turn into a film or television series or on a larger scale a slate of deals.” Her profile also noted that this includes Chinese investments, such as East West Bank’s financing of Bona Film Group’s stake in 20th Century Fox films, one of whose productions was Matt Damon’s “The Martian.”
Roman and the other honorees will be recognized at a special event on October 24.
