Vernon Jordan Honored with Trailblazer Award from JTB-APO

(New York) – Akin Gump senior counsel Vernon E. Jordan Jr. has been honored with the inaugural Constance Baker Motley Trailblazer Award by Just the Beginning – A Pipeline Organization at the Eleventh Biennial JTB-APO Conference held from September 15-18 in New York City. Mr. Jordan served as keynote gala dinner speaker at the event.
Ms. Motley was the first woman of color appointed to the federal bench. This year’s conference, “Equal Justice Under Law: Celebrating the Legacy of Judge Constance Baker Motley,” celebrated the 50th anniversary of that appointment.
JTB-APO, which began in 1992 as the Just the Beginning Foundation, offers pipeline programs directly aimed at increasing diversity in the legal profession and judiciary. The organization seeks to develop and nurture interest in the law among young persons from various socioeconomic, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds underrepresented in the legal profession and to supporting their continued advancement
