Virginia Lawyers Weekly noted that Akin Gump litigation partner Anthony Pierce was part of the winning team in a racial discrimination case in federal court in Alexandria, Virginia. At issue in Worldwide Network Services LLC v. DynCorp International LLC, was whether DynCorp was motivated by racial discrimination when it terminated Worldwide’s subcontract, which had been awarded as part of its communications and information technology work for the U.S. State Department in Iraq and Afghanistan. Worldwide was awarded more than $15 million in punitive damages, attorneys’ fees and contract claims.
