(Washington, D.C.) – Akin Gump international trade partner Wynn Segall has been honored by the Center for Democracy in the Americas (CDA) for his longtime contributions to the organization.
Segall’s practice focuses on economic sanctions and export controls, and his efforts “steering through the Cuba travel regulatory maze” have enabled the CDA to obtain “the research and people-to-people licenses that are the lifeblood” of its work. This includes building networks and relationships between Havana and Washington, establishing advocacy and research credentials and launching a new project tracking the impact of Cuba’s economic reforms on women and gender equality.
The CDA is an independent, nonprofit, women-led organization working for a new U.S. policy toward Latin America. Its directors and board members have years of experience studying and publishing research on Cuba, Venezuela, El Salvador and the region at large.
Founded in 1945, Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP is a leading international law firm with more than 850 attorneys in offices throughout the United States, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
