Wynn Segall Quoted in Wall Street Journal Blog on Impact of Government Investigations of Sanctions Violations

Wynn Segall is quoted in The Wall Street Journal’s “Corruption Currents” blog, discussing the impact on U.S. businesses of government investigations of possible sanctions violations.

Segall, a partner in Akin Gump’s international trade practice, says the government has been able to obtain “a reservoir of material it can comb through” as it searches for violators of U.S. law. While some companies may not wish to comply with federal authorities, the cost of noncompliance, Segall says, “is so massive, they can’t afford not to do something about it.” He adds that compliance is part of maintaining best business practices and “is where the corporate community is going at this point.”
