Phylicia serves as a Washington, D.C. based policy advisor in the lobbying & public policy group. Focused on robust client support, she actively advocates for client priorities, particularly in the realms of trade, U.S.-China relations and health care.

Phylicia offers clients valuable insights into congressional priorities, providing strategic intelligence on the dynamics of policy movement. She is highly skilled in crafting persuasive messaging and steering advocacy campaigns across political spectrums, ensuring effective representation of her clients’ interests.

Prior to joining Akin, Phylicia was a director at the Paulson Institute, overseeing initiatives and advising on finance, sustainability, and U.S.-China relations for the Institute’s Green Finance Center. Transitioning to the role of international advocacy director at the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA), Phylicia directed advocacy strategies in crucial Asian markets, engaging with member companies and contributing to policy analysis.

Phylicia’s responsibilities extended to crafting materials for U.S. and foreign government advocacy, particularly on trade, market access, pricing and intellectual property (IP) issues, stakeholder engagement and consensus building.
