Shar Ahmed’s practice focuses on corporate and securities law matters. Mr. Ahmed has represented issuers and underwriters in public and private equity and debt offerings, investors in private equity transactions, and public and private companies with respect to various securities and corporate law issues. In addition, Mr. Ahmed has represented acquirors and targets in both public and private company mergers and acquisitions. His recent representations include:
- a New York Stock Exchange-listed oil and gas company in a stock and cash public company merger valued in excess of $1 billion
- the issuer in a $375,000,000 simultaneous offering of registered debt and equity securities
- an oil field services company in its cross border stock acquisition of a privately held Canadian company
- the underwriters in a $175,000,000 simultaneous primary and secondary offering of registered equity securities.
Prior to joining Akin Gump, Mr. Ahmed was an associate in the corporate and securities department of Baker Botts L.L.P.
Mr. Ahmed received his B.B.A. magna cum laude from the University of Texas at Austin in 1995 and his J.D. in 2001 from Columbia Law School, where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar and a member of the
Business Law Review. He is a member of the Texas Bar.
