Summary

This bill requires a manufacturer of a new motor vehicle that is equipped with one or more in-vehicle cameras to disclose that fact. The bill was amended to allow review of an owner’s manual prior to purchase/lease. A dealer cannot sell or lease a new motor vehicle equipped with an in-vehicle camera in California without properly informing, during the purchase of the vehicle, the user or person designated by the user to purchase the vehicle. Any image or video recording collected from an in-vehicle camera cannot be used for advertising; sold to a third party; shared with a third party; or downloaded by a person or entity other than the user.
