China’s Measures for Artificial Intelligence Meteorological Application Services
Summary
On April 29, 2025, China Meteorological Administration and Cyberspace Administration of China jointly issued the Measures for Artificial Intelligence Meteorological Application Services (Measures), which will take effect on June 1, 2025. This is the first departmental rule in China aimed at promoting and regulating the application of artificial intelligence in a specific sector. The Measures include specific policy support and promotion measures regarding data openness, algorithm model research and development, as well as rules for algorithm registration and security assessments, the labeling of AI-generated content, algorithm safety review, network security, data security, information dissemination review, and complaint reporting.
