On October 11, 2023, Sen. Ed Markey (D-MA) and Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA) led a bicameral group of Democratic lawmakers in sending a letter urging President Biden to incorporate the five principles outlined in the White House Blueprint for an AI Bill of Rights into his upcoming AI Executive Order. The principles include safe and effective systems, algorithmic discrimination protections, data privacy, notice and explanation, human alternatives, consideration, and fallback. Lori Trahan (D-MA), Jamaal Bowman (D-NY), Yvette Clarke (D-NY), Suzanne Bonamici (D-OR), Barbara Lee (D-CA), Katie Porter (D-CA), Sara Jacobs (D-CA), Cori Bush (D-MO), Delia Ramirez (D-IL), and Ilhan Omar (D-MN).
