Summary

On September 16, 2025, the Commission announced that immediate measures are considered in relation to targeted adjustments to the EU Artificial Intelligence Act, as well as other laws in the data acquis, including the rules on cookies and other tracking technologies, and cybersecurity incident reporting. This follows the September 2024 Draghi report on EU competitiveness published by Mario Draghi, former European Central Bank President and one of Europe's influential economic voices, after which the European Commission is stepping up the digital simplification efforts, aiming to simplify the digital package laws and to bring some relief to businesses.

Industry participants that deploy or develop AI tools and systems, investors, data and tech companies as well as all other stakeholders along the AI supply chain are encouraged to provide feedback by the closing date of the consultation on October 14, 2025.
