House Energy and Commerce Committee Passes Legislation to Establish AI Pilot Program
Summary
On December 6, 2023, the House Energy and Commerce Committee unanimously approved the Consumer Safety Technology Act (H.R. 4814), which would establish a pilot project at the Consumer Product Safety Commission “exploring the use of artificial intelligence to track injury trends, identify hazards, monitor recalls, or identify products not meeting importation requirements.” The bill is sponsored by Reps. Darren Soto (D-FL), Michael Burgess (R-TX), Lori Trahan (D-MA), and Brett Guthrie (R-KY).
