On October 10, 2023, New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy issued Executive Order No. 346, which establishes an Artificial Intelligence Task Force to study the potential impacts of AI on society and recommend ways in which the state government can encourage its ethical use. The order names the state’s chief innovation officer, the chief technology officer of the Office of Information Technology and the chief executive officer of the Economic Development Authority as co-chairs of the task force.
