Tom Kean (R-NJ) has introduced the AI Labeling Act of 2023 (H.R. 6466), which would direct the National Institute of Standards and Technology to form a working group to identify AI-generated content and establish a framework on AI labeling; require generative AI developers to clearly identify AI-generated content; ensure that developers are taking responsible steps to prevent content publication without disclosures; and establish a working group between government and industry to identify best practices for distinguishing AI-generated content.
