Last week, the Trump administration and federal agencies announced several initiatives related to artificial intelligence (AI).

• Maintaining American Leadership in Artificial Intelligence (“American AI Initiative”). The American AI Initiative will focus the resources of the federal government to develop AI in order to increase U.S. prosperity, enhance national and economic security, accelerate national leadership in AI and improve quality of life for the American people.
• Health and Human Services Initiative. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Innovation Center announced its intention to launch an initiative in the forthcoming weeks related to leveraging AI to redefine health care delivery and to improve patient health outcomes.
• Department of Defense (DOD) Initiative. The DOD has announced that the Joint Artificial Intelligence Center (JAIC) will carry out an AI strategy to accelerate the adoption of AI in the creation of modernized military forces, bolster the prosperity of our nation and enhance national security.

In addition to these important initiatives, we anticipate additional forthcoming administrative and congressional actions related to AI.
