Akin labor & employment litigation partner Jessica Taub Rosenberg has earned a Litigator of the Week “shout-out” from The American Lawyer’s Litigation Daily for a significant victory on behalf of Deccan Value Investors L.P., an investment firm in Greenwich, CT, in The Connecticut Superior Court in the case Malik v. Deccan Value LLC et al.
On June 23, 2026, after an extensive bifurcated jury and bench trial process and post-trial briefing, Judge Yamini Menon of the Superior Court in Stamford, Connecticut, issued a resounding decision in favor of Akin’s clients, Deccan Value Investors and its managing partner Vinit Bodas. The Judge entered judgment in favor of Bodas and Deccan with respect to former partner John Malik’s claims tried before the court and awarded attorneys’ fees to the defendants. The former partner’s claims included a demand for $112.7 million in liquidated damages premised on alleged breaches of the parties’ agreements.
Jessica’s rigorous two-day cross-examination of the plaintiff and compelling closing argument were instrumental in securing the jury’s verdict. Associate Amanda Trau also played a key role in securing the victory along with co-counsel Daniel Schwartz of Day Pitney.
