Foreign Investment Watch has once again named Akin international trade senior counsel Laura Black to its Top Advisors list, which recognizes “top advisors who provide advice and counsel concerning foreign investment and national security in the U.S. and abroad.”

In an accompanying profile, FIW noted that Laura served as the first Director of Policy and International Relations of the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) and was the “chief drafter” of the regulations implementing the Foreign Investment Risk Review Modernization Act (FIRRMA), which strengthens and modernizes CFIUS. The publication also noted that Laura “played a leading role in the development of myriad global investment regimes, and spearheaded the Treasury Department’s engagement with dozens of foreign governments.”

FIW notes that she has been quoted in its pages on several key topics, such as foreign engagement strategy and also the rise of statewide legislative proposals that may conflict with CFIUS’s mandate.
