Variety Names Five Media & Entertainment Lawyers Among Hollywood’s Legal Impact Report

Four Akin partners have been named among Hollywood’s ‘Top Entertainment Attorneys’ in Variety’s 2024 Legal Impact Report. This is the fourth appearance for practice head Chris Spicer and fellow partners Marissa Román Griffith, Alissa Miller and Vanessa Roman. Additionally, counsel Lauren Epstein has been recognized in the ‘Up Next’ category.

The published profile in “Variety’s Legal Impact Report 2024: Meet Hollywood’s Top Entertainment Attorneys,” highlights that the team worked $2 billion in transactions in the past year for clients including:

  • Comerica Bank in various financings, including a Black Bear Pictures and Guy Ritchie movie.
  • East West Bank with a corporate credit facility for music royalty SR Funding.
  • Media Rights Capital in its production and financing for films and TV series.
  • Dark Castle Entertainment for movies “Last Breath” and “Shell;” company principals include Joel Silver and Robert Zemeckis.

In the profile, Chris noted that he expects movies will be crafted correctly for economic returns saying, “As a result, that will streamline the financing and dealmaking for international content.”
