Yale Law Women+ Recognize Akin’s Culture with Top Firm Award
Yale Law Women+ (YLW+) has recognized Akin’s culture with its Top Firm Award 2023 in that category.
This recognition came as part of YLW+’s 18th annual Top Firms Report, produced each year to “raise awareness of inequities within the legal profession and highlight the progress being made in the industry.” There are five Top Firm Awards, spotlighting the best in Advancement, Agency & Flexibility, Compensation, Culture and Diversity.
The Culture award, according to YLW+, “factors in firms’ pro bono work policies workplace sensitivity training, arbitration and related legal policies, and health and wellness services for employees” along with employee utilization of caregiving benefits, level of attorney attrition across gender and race, and support for social justice causes. YLW+ states that “Firms with strong and healthy cultures embody values of community engagements, supportive work environments, and work-life balance.”
On Akin, YLW+ points to the firm as a “leader in fostering positive work and social culture within and beyond the firm,” reporting that attorney attrition is low across the board. YLW+ highlights the firm’s implicit bias training, work-life balance and mental health programming. The firm also offers caregiving leave policies to all employees, who, YLW+ notes, can also benefit from a broad array of subsidize male and female reproductive and infertility health care options. Lastly, it notes, employees are not subject to non-disclosure agreements or mandatory arbitration policies.
