Plaintiffs in a climate change lawsuit involving issues of constitutional first impression hope to advance the merits of their case in pursuit of a court order directing the U.S. federal government to take actions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Their optimism arises from a March 17, 2018 ruling by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit denying the Trump administration’s Petition for a Writ of Mandamus in a lawsuit filed by Our Children’s Trust in the U.S. District Court for the District of Oregon on behalf of twenty-one children and young adults.
