Akin lawyers are advising on a high-profile matter, closely watched in the global investment funds industry, that Legal Business has featured among the top U.K. cases for 2023 (subscribers can learn more here).

The case, due to go to trial in June 2023, relates to a landmark judicial review claim brought against the London Metal Exchange (LME) by three firms—Elliott Associates, Elliott International, Jane Street Global Trading—relating to the suspension of the nickel market and the unprecedented cancellation, purportedly in response to market conditions, of billions of dollars in trades in March 2022.

Akin litigation partners Richard Hornshaw and Kambiz Larizadeh, with associates Anna Storer and Jasmine Alexander, are instructing Monica Carss-Frisk KC and Iain Steele at Blackstone Chambers on behalf of Elliott Associates and Elliott International.

The case was also featured on The Lawyer’s Top 20 cases 2023 (read more here).
