Bloomberg Law Quotes Kim Koopersmith on Recruiting Lawyers of Color

For its article “Will the Law Firm Diversity Push Falter as Protests Fade?,” Bloomberg Law quoted Akin Gump chairperson Kim Koopersmith on Akin Gump’s work to recruit lawyers of color during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Koopersmith said, “We’re very focused on how in a pandemic recruiting is different, and showing at least the same level of intensity, if not a higher level of intensity, in recruiting diverse attorneys and charting out the course for them to have more client interaction as they enter the firm.”

The article notes that the firm hosted a diversity and inclusion reception for 1L students late last month—one of three such receptions recently hosted by firm affinity groups—and also offers three diversity and inclusion summer opportunities for diverse 1L students.
