Bloomberg Tax Quotes Shariff Barakat on Energy Tax Credits

For its article “Tribal Governments Finally Can Unlock Clean Energy Tax Credits,” Bloomberg Tax quoted Akin projects & energy transition partner Shariff Barakat. The article discusses how Native tribes can, thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act, for the first time, access millions of dollars in tax incentives to help fight climate change.
The article notes that the proposed rules contained in already released guidance do not allow for mixed partnerships, that is, where only some partners eligible for direct pay, to claim direct pay on behalf of the partners. Shariff noted in this regard, “It makes it harder, but I think it’s arguably consistent with the policy fundamentally.”
