IFLR has quoted Akin Gump partner Davina Garrod in the article “Companies remain cautious about entering China.” The article reports that newly announced regulations by Beijing to open up China’s market are doing little to encourage western companies to do business there.
“Few clients have been moving into mainland China, due in part to the local authorities taking up considerable management time and costs,” said Garrod. For those willing to make a move, though, the article says there are some major growth prospects, with Garrod adding, “If China’s Open Up policy continues, those companies can partake in the great opportunities presented by such a large market.”
