The article examines the U.S. Treasury Department’s annual report on enforcement by the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS). The report’s findings, notes GCR, include the fact that CFIUS reviewed a record number of covered transactions in 2022.
Laura, who served as the Director of Policy and International Relations, CFIUS, Office of Investment Security, said that CFIUS requests that nearly one-third of all transactions filed via the short-form declaration process be refiled as long-form notices, which is up from 20% the previous year, and also noted the rise in abandoned transactions. She said, “CFIUS is continuing to carefully scrutinize—and act to address—national security risk.”
