G. Hunter Bates, co-head of Akin Gump’s public law and policy practice, has been quoted in a recent Bloomberg Government article examining how Washington lobbying firms fared during the third quarter of the year.

While some firms saw a big revenue boost, the article notes that others saw a slowdown following enactment of the new tax law.

Looking ahead, Bates predicted, “There will be a lot of activity with people gearing up for the new Congress, hiring new firms and dealing with their strategy for what might well be a divided Congress.”

“By and large, the business community has been on offense for the last two years, trying to get a positive agenda for job growth but if the House flips, you will see the business community quickly turn to playing much more defense,” Bates continued.
