For its article “US Agencies Under Pressure From Heavy Sanctions Workload,” Export Compliance Daily quoted Akin Gump international trade partner Kevin Wolf.

The article discusses, in part, a government funding bill passed by Congress this month that allocates millions of dollars to the Commerce Department’s Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) to hire more staff for Russia-related export control work.

Wolf, who served as Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Export Administration within BIS, said extra staff should help the agency, adding, “Clearly career staff are working very hard. These are significant, novel rules being drafted and published under tight time pressures and in the limelight.”
