For its article “U.S. Casts a Global Net to Stop Shipments to Russia,” The New York Times quoted Akin Gump international trade partner Kevin Wolf on the implementation of the Biden-Harris administration’s export restrictions on Russia, characterized by the Times as “the most sweeping export controls seen in decades.”

Wolf, a former Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Export Administration, Bureau of Industry and Security, characterized implementation of this policy as likely to be “extraordinarily complex,” but added that it would immediately change company behavior: “Even if they’re not perfect, I still think you will see a significant reaction by multinationals to do everything they can to comply. Just because people speed doesn’t mean you don’t have a speeding limit.”

Kevin Wolf has been quoted by a wide variety of media outlets on Russia and export controls in the current environment. Click here to read more.
