Akin national security & global investigations partner Ryan Fayhee spoke with CNNFox News and NewsNation about his pro bono advocacy on behalf of Reza Valizadeh, a 49-year-old Iranian-American journalist who has been wrongfully detained in Iran since September 2024. Ryan emphasized the importance of Valizadeh’s release as part of the negotiations between the United States and Iran.

As talks continue, Ryan underscores the need for a diplomatic solution to secure the release of both Valizadeh and other Americans wrongfully detained in Iran, expressing confidence that the administration’s efforts will bring them home.

Speaking to CNN Ryan noted that “Reza and his release could be a gesture to show - on the Iranian side and the American side - they can engage on the resolution of something that is quite easy to resolve before they get onto these more complex issues.”
