Akin lobbying & public policy partner and former senior Trump administration trade official Kelly Ann Shaw is quoted by The Wall Street Journal in an article titled, “How Britain’s Keir Starmer Became Europe’s Soft-Spoken Trump Whisperer.” The article examines the Trump administration’s trade relationship with the United Kingdom (U.K.).

The article highlights that the U.K. secured a 10% baseline tariff, which is below the 15% imposed on the European Union. While the U.K. will pay a higher rate on some products, it got a discount in key areas like steel and cars.

Kelly Ann tells The Wall Street Journal that she expects that “the U.K. will maintain one of the most beneficial trading relationships compared to any other U.S. trading partner.”
