The Washington Post, in its article “How do you lobby a House without a speaker?” has quoted Akin lobbying & public policy senior counsel Casey Higgins. For the past three weeks, the U.S. House of Representatives has been without a speaker. The Post addresses the impact of this dynamic on the lobbying area, particularly the suspension of legislation.

Casey, who served as an aide to former speaker Paul Ryan, said, “We’re continuing to do outreach where we can. But there’s also a dynamic here where the House is on fire, so going to talk to staff about ordering new curtains is not exactly what they want to talk about now.”
