Akin Advises GATX in the Acquisition of Wells Fargo’s Rail Assets

(Chicago) – Akin advised GATX Corporation, the leading global lessor of transportation assets, as co-counsel in connection with the formation of a joint venture with Brookfield Infrastructure Partners L.P. and its institutional partners to acquire approximately 105,000 railcars from Wells Fargo for $4.4 billion. 

GATX will serve as the manager of the railcars in the joint venture, and have 30% initial joint venture equity ownership, with the option to acquire 100% of the equity over time.
