Akin Gump Advises Summit Midstream Partners’ Conflicts Committee in Shale Acquisitions

(Houston) – Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP is advising the conflicts committee of Summit Midstream Partners in the purchase of two separate natural gas gathering systems.

In a deal that has already closed, Summit Midstream paid $250 million for Bison Midstream LLC, which operates in North Dakota’s Bakken Shale region. Separately, Summit will pay about $210 million to MarkWest Energy Partners for its Marcellus Shale assets in West Virginia. This transaction is expected to close by the end of June.

Houston energy partners Christine B. LaFollette, who serves as partner in charge of the office, and John Goodgame and Houston tax partner W. Thomas Weir led the team representing Summit Midstream’s conflicts committee.
