Akin Launches Virtual Tours of Firm Offices

Contact:
(New York and Dallas) – Today, Akin Gump announced the launch of an innovative platform that allows potential recruits, particularly law students, to virtually “step into” the firm and experience day-to-day life as a lawyer at Akin Gump. Akin Gump is the first law firm—and among the very few professional services firms of any kind—to offer such a platform, which is launching with virtual experiences of the firm’s New York and Dallas offices.
The virtual tours are geared towards providing an authentic, firsthand experience of what it is like to work as a lawyer at Akin Gump. The platform is accessible via the firm’s website, as well as at on-campus recruiting events, where students may use virtual reality (VR) goggles to “walk through” firm offices and engage with firm personnel.
Akin Gump firmwide hiring partner David Botter commented, “Law students today are looking to gain as much insight as they can into what their day-to-day experience at a firm will be: What is the firm’s office like? What is their culture and what are their values? How do their lawyers work and collaborate with each other? This is something that goes beyond the traditional brochure or website. We are giving them a tool that comes as close as possible to approximating what they will experience as an Akin Gump lawyer.”
Each virtual tour highlights various aspects of the firm as a whole and features lawyers describing their roles and initiatives at Akin Gump. For example, “visitors” to the firm’s New York office begin by walking with a group of fellow lawyers from the subway into the firm’s offices at One Bryant Park, where they are greeted by chairperson Kim Koopersmith. They then have the option of walking through hallways and stepping into conference rooms and offices while “meeting” lawyers and staff, all the while gaining insights into how the firm operates and how Akin Gump lawyers work collaboratively amongst themselves and with their clients.
Similarly, visitors in Dallas are greeted by litigation partner and local hiring partner Lacy Lawrence, hear from partner in charge Scott Barnard and are able to stroll through the firm’s new Uptown Dallas location and interact with personnel from across the office.
The virtual tour platform can be accessed via the firm’s website by clicking here. The tours are also available on mobile devices via an app that can be downloaded here.
The firm worked with YouVisit on the development of the tours and intends to build out virtual experiences of other offices across the firm.
