(Washington, D.C.) – For the seventh straight year in a row, Global Investigations Review has named Akin Gump to its GIR 30, the publication’s ranking of the world’s 30 best law firms for handling sophisticated cross-border government-led and internal investigations.
The firm was noted for its deep bench of “practitioners who have served at the highest levels of the US Department of Justice in Washington, DC and as prosecutors at prominent US attorney’s offices across the country. Many of its large pool of former government lawyers are based in the US capital.”
In recent years, GIR said, Akin Gump has “helped multiple companies facing scrutiny from US authorities avoid penalties.” The publication also notes that the firm’s “current CFTC cases are backed up by a solid track record in such matters,” adding that it also has a “strong history of taking on complex foreign bribery cases.”
The GIR 30, part of the GIR 100, is an annual guide to the world’s leading firms for corporate investigations. The list is based on extensive research and determined through a formula that includes the number of active cases at a firm, the profile level of those matters, the number of leading figures at a firm and other criteria.
Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP is a leading international law firm with more than 900 lawyers and advisors in offices throughout the United States, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
