(London) - Akin Gump is pleased to welcome two A-level students to the firm’s London office as part of a social mobility initiative run by charity The Social Mobility Foundation.
The students will join the firm for legal work experience for two weeks, starting on Monday August 19. They will sit with a counsel and associate who will act as mentors during their time at the firm.
Prior to their arrival, the charity visited the office and gave a talk about the work they do and the volunteering and mentoring opportunities they offer.
Emma Simmonds, partner and Chair of Akin Gump’s London Diversity & Inclusion Council, commented: “We are delighted to welcome the two A-level students to the firm in London. It is just one aspect of Akin Gump’s commitment to diversity and inclusion and it is an initiative that we hope to expand in future.”
The Social Mobility Foundation aims to make a practical improvement in social mobility for young people from lower-income backgrounds. Founded in 2005, it focuses on providing opportunities and networks of support for 16-17 year olds who are unable to get them from their schools or families.
