Big Akin Win at Law.com International’s Middle East Legal Awards

(Dubai) – Akin is pleased to announce that it has won the “Regulatory and Investigations Team of the Year” category at The Middle East Legal Awards 2023.
The Middle East Legal Awards, run by Law.com International, recognize exceptional achievement and best practice in the region and within the profession. The Regulatory and Investigations Team of the Year award is given for a single deal or case with a significant Middle East element to it that sets new standards in the delivery of legal services and demonstrates the firm’s market-leading position.
Akin was recognized for its work with a client regarding the existential threat to its business following the introduction of unprecedented sanctions in 2022 that entailed the provision of critical civilian services, including in Russia and Ukraine. By leveraging novel legal arguments, intensive advocacy and strong government relationships to engage with multiple regulatory authorities, Akin secured an extremely rare exemption that allowed the company to survive and continue to operate.
