(Singapore) – Akin is pleased to announce the relocation of John Holton, an investment management partner, to Singapore. This strategic move bolsters the firm’s engagement with the Indian and Southeast Asian markets and positions the firm’s Singapore office for further growth.

Holton is a market-leading lawyer assisting prominent Indian asset managers seeking to raise capital in the United States and other international markets. From Singapore, Holton will serve Indian and other Asian clients within the same time zones.

Holton is recognized for his comprehensive understanding of international capital markets. With nearly four decades of experience launching private funds, Holton delivers strategic and timely insights to clients. He has worked with Indian asset managers for more than 20 years.

Holton started his career in Boston, where for more than 25 years he helped guide the expanding private funds industry, representing venture capital managers, private equity shops and hedge funds. In 2011, he relocated to London to better serve European and Asian clients.

Singapore’s dynamic economic landscape and its status as a hub for international fund managers make it an ideal location for Holton. His presence in Singapore is a significant step toward enhancing the firm’s offerings to international funds and asset managers.

Akin’s Singapore office offers legal advice and counseling to international clients conducting business in Singapore or through its markets. In recent years, many clients have expanded their operations and investments to emerging markets, including India, China and Southeast Asia. At the same time, owing to proactive government policies, Singapore has become a vital hub for investing across Asia. Akin’s Singapore office, together with its Hong Kong and Beijing offices, serves an international client base seeking representation in this increasingly important market.

Olivia Chung, the partner in charge of Akin’s Singapore office, commented, “We are delighted to welcome John Holton to Singapore. His decades of experience with international fundraising and commanding knowledge of U.S. rules governing international funds and managers will help us to continue to deliver the highest levels of service to clients in Asia for which we are known.”

Akin is a leading international law firm with more than 900 lawyers in offices throughout the United States, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
