California Requires Businesses to Disclose Carbon Offset Information Online

Summary

This law was enacted in October 2023 and requires businesses who market or sell voluntary carbon offsets to disclose information about the carbon offsets on their website. Businesses must disclose if a carbon offset project isn't completed or fails to meet the projected emissions reduction. Businesses who purchase voluntary carbon offsets or claim to be carbon-neutral also must disclose information about the carbon offsets on their website.
