HB 356: Montana Bans Government Contracts with Companies that Discriminate Against Firearm Entities

April 20, 2023

Summary

HB 356, enacted in April 2023, prohibits a governmental entity from entering into a contract with a company that discriminates against firearms entities or trade associations. The law does not apply to companies with less than 10 full-time employees, sole-source providers, or contracts under $100,000.

The law defines "discriminate" to include refusing to engage in the trade of goods or services, or refraining from continuing or terminating an existing business relationship with an entity solely based on the fact that they are a firearm entity or firearm trade association.
