HR 12: Missouri Opposes Federal ESG Initiatives and Climate Risk Strategy

May 12, 2023

Summary

House Resolution 12 is a resolution against federal ESG initiatives. It was adopted in May 2023 in response to the President's Executive Order 14030, which was issued in May 2021 and directed federal agencies to develop and implement a government-wide strategy on climate-related financial risk, and the March 2021 SEC proposal. The resolution urges the state to use its authority, legislation, and administrative powers to "prevent a forced imposition of environmental, social, and governance policies." It urges the state to oppose the SEC regulations on climate-related financial risk disclosures and not to base any decisions on "net-zero" transitions.
