May 5, 2025

Summary

SB 500 was enacted in May 2025 and provides that governmental entities may not enter into contracts with a company unless the company verifies in the contract that it does not discriminate against the firearm or ammunition industry. The Act defines "discrimination" as refusal to engage with, refrain from continuing or terminating an existing business relationship for" the trade of any goods or services with the entity or association based solely on its status as a firearm entity or firearm trade association." The Act only applies to companies with at least ten full-time employees and for contracts exceeding $100,000.
