SB 81: South Dakota Prohibits Firearm Registries and Financial Discrimination Against Firearms Dealers

Summary

SB 81 was enacted in February 2025.  It prohibits the state from keeping a list, record, or registry of privately owned firearms and owners of those firearms.  The Act also prohibits financial institutions from discriminating against firearms and ammunition dealers, requiring that they be treated the same as general merchandise or sporting goods retailers.
