Alan Feld has more than a half-century of experience in corporate finance and securities law. He has long been a pillar of the Texas-born firm that bears his name, and he was one of the state’s first corporate lawyers with a strong Wall Street following, carving a path for the firm’s future success across the United States and in international markets.

In 2018, Southern Methodist University (SMU) named Alan a trustee emeritus, making him one of only 11 professionals who have received the honor in the history of the University. That year, he was also recognized with the Texas Lawyer Lifetime Achievement Award, which celebrates legal practitioners who have made their mark on the Lone Star State. In 1998, the SMU School of Law established the Alan D. Feld Professorship.

In 1985, Alan was appointed by the governor to the Texas State Securities Board and served as the board’s chairman through 1991. He joined Akin Gump in 1960 and is one of four senior executive partners. Alan has been a lecturer at the Southwestern Medical School and the Practising Law Institute.
