Brian Sprague works closely with firm management to advise, develop and execute firm strategy. He oversees all of the operational functions of the firm with a focus on effective and cost efficient solutions. He works closely with the Chairperson and is an Ex-Officio Member of the Management Committee.

He leads a team of professionals across multiple disciplines including finance, business development and marketing, information technology, human resources, and practice management to enable cross-functional collaboration to realize firm goals.

Brian has more than 20 years of experience in law firms and financial services. He is a graduate of New York University’s executive M.B.A. program.

Brian spent five years as the firm’s Chief Financial Officer before taking on the Chief Operating Officer responsibilities. Before joining Akin, Brian worked at another large international law firm, where he served as director of financial reporting and analysis, focusing on improving the quality and timeliness of analysis and financial systems for the firm.

Earlier in his career, Brian worked at Citigroup in a number of finance roles throughout various parts of the organization, including the global derivatives group, global consumer banking operations and technology, the bank’s Internet efforts and its Latin America division.
