Biography
  • Advises clients in the power and natural gas sectors on regulatory, commercial, and transactional matters related to electric generation and transmission assets.
  • Represents generation developers, marketers, and transmission owners in matters before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and state regulatory commissions and agencies.
  • Provides advice to pipeline companies appearing before FERC.
  • Previously served as an economic policy advisor in the Office of Energy Market Regulation at FERC.

Christopher advises clients on a range of regulatory, commercial , and transactional matters related to the U.S. power and natural gas sectors. He has extensive experience with FERC, the Federal Power Act (FPA), and the Natural Gas Act (NGA), including wholesale power market design, natural gas rate cases and certificates, enforcement and compliance, Regional Transmission Organizations/Independent System Operators (RTOs/ISOs) matters , and the representation of parties in contested proceedings before FERC.

He also advises clients on a range of project development and financing transactions. Prior to joining Akin, Christopher was a debt finance associate at another global law firm in New York, focused on corporate and project financings, acquisition financings, and tax equity and tax credit transfer transactions. 

Before becoming an attorney, Christopher served as the director of energy policy, legislative and regulatory affairs at a major utility company in New York, as the senior manager of federal regulatory affairs at a national electric institute in Washington, D.C., and began his career as an economic policy advisor at FERC.

Christopher received his J.D. from Fordham University School of Law, his M.A. in applied economics from Johns Hopkins University and his B.A. in economics and political science from the University of North Carolina Greensboro.
