Biography

Licensed to practice in Texas only and under the supervision of the partners of Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP. Application for admission to the New York Bar in process.

  • Concentrates practice on restructuring litigation, with a particular emphasis on contested matters, and adversarial proceedings arising in complex chapter 11 cases.

Caroline works on bankruptcy and restructuring litigation matters, assisting in the representation of significant parties in interest, including secured and unsecured creditors, equity holders and debtors in complex chapter 11 proceedings, chapter 7 proceedings, out-of-court-restructurings and other distressed situations.

Prior to joining Akin, Caroline was an associate at another global law firm based in New York City. In addition, Caroline clerked for the Honorable Philip Bentley in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York, and worked as an associate at a global law firm based in Houston, Texas.

Representative Work

Debtor Representations

  • Eletson Holdings Inc.: Counsel to the reorganized debtors in enforcement actions against the previous owners following the effective date of the confirmed creditor plan before the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York, including representation of the reorganized debtors as appellees before the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
  • Echo Energy Partners I LLC: Counsel to the debtor in its chapter 11 bankruptcy case in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas, resulting in the sale of substantially all of the debtor’s SCOOP/stack assets for approximately $32.9 million.

Secured Creditor Representations

  • Alta Mesa Resources Inc., et al.: Counsel to the administrative agent for the first lien lender group in connection with Alta Mesa’s chapter 11 cases in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas.
  • Gulfport Energy Corp. et al.: Counsel to the executory contract counterparty with potential exposure of approximately $800 million in connection with a contract rejection claim in Gulfport’s chapter 11 bankruptcy cases in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas.
  • Red River Waste Solutions LP: Counsel to the lender and administrative agent in the chapter 11 liquidation of waste management services company, Red River Waste Solutions LP, in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Texas.
  • Extraction Oil & Gas Inc.: Counsel to the administrative agent under a $1.5 billion secured prepetition revolving facility in the chapter 11 bankruptcy case of Extraction Oil & Gas Inc. in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware, including implementation of a $125 million super priority senior secured debtor in possession credit facility and providing an exit facility upon emergence.

Distressed Real Estate

  • Distressed Debt Investors: Counsel to a group of distressed debt investors as lenders to entities owned by World Class Real Estate in chapter 11 bankruptcy cases filed by World Class Real Estate subsidiaries in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Western District of Texas, as well as in foreclosure litigation and appeals, defaulted debt proceedings, suits on guarantee and collection litigation and appeals in Texas State Courts.
