- Advises clients on international trade matters involving export controls, compliance and sanctions.
Chase assists clients with investigations and compliance related to U.S. export control laws (Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)) and economic sanctions. He also assists in matters related to the space and satellite industries across practice groups, including litigation, corporate and financial restructuring.
Prior to joining Akin, Chase clerked for Duke Corporate Education in connection with the Office of Counsel of Duke University.
Chase earned his J.D. from Duke University School of Law. During his time at Duke, Chase served as executive editor of the Alaska Law Review, senior research editor of the Duke Law & Technology Review, special editor of the Duke Journal of Gender Law & Policy, a member of the Moot Court Board and a graduate fellow for the Duke Center on Risk.
Chase was co-founder and project manager for the interdisciplinary study “Going to Mars: Science, Society, and Sustainability” and semifinalist at the 2021 Manfred Lachs Space Law Moot Court Competition, where he scored the highest individual brief.
