Biography
  • Concentrates his practice on corporate restructurings and bankruptcy law.
  • Represents ad hoc creditor groups and official committees in Chapter 11 cases and out-of-court restructurings.
  • Served as law clerk at the U.S. Bankruptcy Court.

Edan Lisovicz advises clients on corporate restructuring matters and distressed transactions, including in-court and of out-of-court restructuring.

Committed to his clients’ needs, Edan’s experience spans a variety of industries, such as oil and gas, technology, apparel and manufacturing.  His speed and work ethic ensure that his clients’ transactions are finalized in cost-effective time frames.

Prior to joining Akin Gump, Edan served as law clerk to the Honorable John K. Sherwood and the Honorable Donald H. Steckroth (Ret.) at the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, District of New Jersey.

  • Diamond Sports: Counsel to the Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors in the chapter 11 cases of Diamond Sports Group and its affiliates, an operator of regional sports broadcast networks for more than 40 teams across Major League Baseball, the National Hockey League and the National Basketball Association, involving more than $8 billion in liabilities.
  • Purdue Pharma: Counsel to the Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors in the chapter 11 cases of Purdue Pharma and its affiliates, the privately held pharmaceutical company and maker of OxyContin, involving over a trillion dollars of asserted claims.
  • Mallinckrodt: Counsel to the Official Committee of Opioid Related Claimants in the chapter 11 cases of Mallinckrodt and its affiliates, an American-Irish pharmaceuticals company, involving hundreds of billions of dollars of asserted claims. Restructuring of the Year (The Deal)
  • TPC: Counsel to the Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors in the chapter 11 cases of TPC Group and its affiliates, a petrochemical manufacturing company, with $1.3 billion in funded debt obligations and hundreds of millions of dollars in tort liabilities.   • Outcome Health: Counsel to an informal group of secured lenders of Outcome Health, a technology start-up company. 
  • True Religion: Counsel to an ad hoc group of prepetition first lien lenders in the in the chapter 11 cases of True Religion and its affiliates, a premium denim and apparel retailer, involving $483 million in liabilities.
  • Vanguard Natural Resources: Counsel to the Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors in the chapter 11 cases of Vanguard Natural Resources and its affiliates, a Houston-based independent E&P company, involving $1.2 billion in liabilities.   • Erickson: Counsel to an ad hoc group of second lien noteholders in the chapter 11 cases of Erickson and its affiliates, an aerospace manufacturing and aviation service provider, involving $561 million in liabilities. Turnaround of the Year - Middle Markets (Turnaround Atlas Awards)
  • Media News Group: Counsel to Media News Group, a management company specializing in newspapers in the United States, in an unwarranted tax liabilities matter.
